26 Projects Worth RM3.54 Million Under Kampung Angkat MADANI in Four Tioman Island Villages

TIOMAN, Sept 29 – A total of 26 infrastructure development projects and community programs valued at RM3.54 million are being implemented across four villages on Tioman Island under the Ministry of Finance’s MADANI Adopted Village (Kampung Angkat MADANI) initiative.

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the development projects were tailored directly to the needs and feedback of residents, focusing on improving local well-being while boosting the island’s tourism appeal.

The four participating villages are Kampung Tekek, Kampung Juara, Kampung Salang, and Kampung Genting.

“Basically, the objective of MADANI adopted village is to reduce the gap between urban and rural areas, where we see that infrastructure can be improved,” Amir Hamzah explained. “So, we encourage the use of existing local contractors because the projects are small-scale, and this can create opportunities for contractors in their respective areas.”

Amir Hamzah disclosed the details during a working visit to Tioman Island held from Sept 26 to 27 in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance’s Budget Tour.

All 26 projects are scheduled to commence in October 2026 and are slated for completion by March 31, 2027.

Key projects inspected during the Minister’s visit include a food supply storage cabin and a public motorcycle parking facility at the Kampung Tekek passenger jetty, alongside the installation of 10 solar streetlights at the Kampung Juara Jetty.

Additional major works encompass the construction of a new bridge in Kampung Salang and tourist-friendly landscape upgrades at the Kampung Genting entrance.

Complementing physical infrastructure, the initiative will feature community programs such as village-level folk sports (sukan rakyat) and a gotong-royong (communal work) effort scheduled next month to repair water supply pipes in Kampung Juara.
