&#8212; The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS)&nbsp;in Perlis has seized 1.4 tonnes of fresh fish estimated to be worth RM5,600 as the import permit was confusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perlis MAQIS director&nbsp;Mohamad Arshad Raffin&nbsp;said the seizure was made following an inspection on a lorry&nbsp;carrying various types of fish at the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex in Padang Besar last Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Screen-Shot-2021-04-09-at-11.52.37.png\" alt=\"MAQIS\" class=\"wp-image-9037\" width=\"516\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Screen-Shot-2021-04-09-at-11.52.37.png 586w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Screen-Shot-2021-04-09-at-11.52.37-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Screen-Shot-2021-04-09-at-11.52.37-161x100.png 161w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Screen-Shot-2021-04-09-at-11.52.37-350x218.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFollowing the inspection, we found 1,400 kg (1.4 tonnes) of fresh fish that was declared on MAQIS permit but the document was confusing,\u201d he said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said importing agricultural products using a fake, inaccurate and confusing document is an offence under&nbsp;Section 13 of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If found guilty, offenders shall be liable to a&nbsp;maximum fine of&nbsp;RM50,000 or&nbsp;imprisonment of&nbsp;up to two years&nbsp;or both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;
