{"id":8855,"date":"2021-03-27T22:15:34","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T14:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=8855"},"modified":"2021-03-27T22:15:35","modified_gmt":"2021-03-27T14:15:35","slug":"larger-coalition-of-parties-needed-for-stability-saifuddin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=8855","title":{"rendered":"Larger coalition of parties needed for stability &#8211; Saifuddin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUANTAN, March 27&nbsp;&#8212; There is a need to establish a larger coalition of political parties with as many members as possible to ensure a stable government, Pahang Bersatu chief Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Communications and Multimedia Minister said Pahang Bersatu\u2019s main priority now is to form stronger alliances at all levels, adding that the establishment of&nbsp;Pahang&nbsp;Perikatan Nasional&nbsp;(PN) today was another effort towards that purpose.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saifuddin, who is also Indera Mahkota MP,&nbsp;was appointed Pahang PN&nbsp;chairman last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are now in a situation in which there are parties who are part of the\u00a0PN government, but not in the PN coalition, and that is raising a lot of questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-27-at-22.12.50.png\" alt=\"coalition\" class=\"wp-image-8856\" width=\"523\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-27-at-22.12.50.png 588w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-27-at-22.12.50-300x164.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-27-at-22.12.50-183x100.png 183w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-27-at-22.12.50-350x191.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 523px) 100vw, 523px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs for Bersatu, it is better to be in a PN government and the coalition as well,\u201d he said at the \u201cErat Kasih\u201d&nbsp;programme with&nbsp;Balok Makmur&nbsp;residents here today.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked about PAS\u2019 decision&nbsp;to remain with both PN and Muafakat Nasional&nbsp;(MN) for now, Saifuddin said Pahang Bersatu&nbsp;accepts and respects the fact that the party wishes to maintain ties with MN partner UMNO.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is a bridge (PAS-UMNO cooperation) and Pahang Bersatu&nbsp;has no intentions to burn that bridge,\u201d he said, adding that any final decision will depend on the respective party leadership,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the&nbsp;meeting to form Pahang PN last night, attended by state Bersatu, Pas and Gerakan&nbsp;leaders, was held in a united and friendly atmosphere, where it was unanimously decided that it was not yet the right time for seat allocation discussions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are at a level where we want to enhance ties further and it is still not the time to discuss the general election,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was also satisfied with the cooperation within Pahang PN, saying that his visits to 13 of the 14 parliamentary constituencies in the state have been very well received.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saifuddin&nbsp;is scheduled to meet the Rompin PN leadership on April 9, while Pahang Bersatu will hold a meeting on April 10.
