{"id":8699,"date":"2021-03-17T13:02:30","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T05:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=8699"},"modified":"2021-03-17T13:02:31","modified_gmt":"2021-03-17T05:02:31","slug":"talks-underway-with-malaysian-side-for-possible-investment-in-joint-textile-projects-in-uzbekistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=8699","title":{"rendered":"Talks underway with Malaysian side for possible investment in joint textile projects in Uzbekistan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, March 17&nbsp;&#8212; Negotiations are underway between Malaysia and Uzbekistan sides to consider possible investment in&nbsp;joint textile projects in the Central Asian country, said&nbsp;Uzbekistan\u2019s Ambassador to Malaysia, Ravshan Usmanov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usmanov said the negotiations are being held between potential Malaysian companies and the Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association (UTGIA) for a possible tie-up of the joint investment project in Ferghana and Samarkand regions of Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUzbekistan has a huge potential&nbsp;in the textile industry,\u201d he told Bernama in an exclusive interview via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said Uzbekistan\u2019s total annual export of textile industry goods in 2020 was US$1.9 billion (51 per cent of exports is finished products) to 68 countries, and attracted foreign investments for the creation of new productions worth US$3.2 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-17-at-12.59.07.png\" alt=\"textile\" class=\"wp-image-8700\" width=\"519\" height=\"331\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-17-at-12.59.07.png 583w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-17-at-12.59.07-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-17-at-12.59.07-157x100.png 157w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-17-at-12.59.07-350x223.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 519px) 100vw, 519px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAccording to the Active Investment and Export Policy of Textile Industry of Uzbekistan, the country is eyeing to increase its export of fabrics from US$1.9 billion in 2020 to US$7.1 billion in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe number of people employed in this industry is some 360,000.
