PUTRAJAYA, March 8\u00a0 — The appointments of those who are not listed under\u00a0the first phase as\u00a0COVID-19 vaccine recipients\u00a0have been canceled following complaints by\u00a0whistle-blowers on queue cutting, said Coordinating Minister for\u00a0the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, there were about 200 complaints received on the issue so far and in one complaint dated March 4, it was found some names in the list were not categorised under first phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I checked all the replies\u00a0provided, some centers had already completed vaccinating frontliners so they added individuals from other agencies not listed under phase one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn based the complaints, we have cancelled all appointments of those who are not listed under phase first,\u201d he said in a joint media conference with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba on the development of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khairy said among the complaints received were related to some staff of hospital emergency section who were not listed in phase one as recipients and the issue had been resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The whistle-blower system is effective as it has enable the government to address several incidents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khairy said he also directed doses which were intended to be given front workers but planned for those not listed as frontliners would be redistributed to areas which have not completed vaccinating frontliners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the development of the immunisation programme, Khairy said 139,720 people have been given the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 3,832,976 people have registered for the immunisation programme with 3,658,538 carried out via MySejahtera application and 173,575 through vaksincovid.gov.my website as well as 863 via hotline, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five states with the highest number people vaccinated are Sarawak with 22,140 individuals followed by Pahang 14,473, Selangor (12,336), Kelantan (11,927) and Sabah (11,739). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Registration will continue to rise and we are targeting about five million registrations in two weeks especially when the dependent option via MySejahtera is launched on March 12 to enable children to register their parents who do not have the application for vaccination registration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khairy said a briefing would be held for all members of Parliament on the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I will coordinate with them on the date and place so that all backbenchers would be briefed. It maybe divided into an opposition backbencher session followed by a government backbencher session on the same day, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
