{"id":8429,"date":"2021-03-01T10:37:39","date_gmt":"2021-03-01T02:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=8429"},"modified":"2021-03-01T10:37:40","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T02:37:40","slug":"schools-reopen-for-pre-schoolers-year-1-2-students-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=8429","title":{"rendered":"Schools reopen for pre-schoolers, year 1, 2 students Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, March 1&nbsp;&#8212;&nbsp;&nbsp;The stage is set for&nbsp;schools across the country&nbsp;to reopen their doors today for&nbsp;preschoolers, Year One and Year Two students after they were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For students&nbsp;who have not got&nbsp;their uniforms yet, the Education Ministry (MOE) has allowed them to wear everyday clothes for school and the waiver expires on March 26 (when the first term holiday begins).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reopening of\u00a0the face-to-face school session, after it was closed nationwide on Nov 9\u00a0last year,\u00a0also sees\u00a0students and teachers adapting to the new norms and\u00a0compliance with the\u00a0standard operating procedures (SOP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-01-at-10.35.37.png\" alt=\"reopen\" class=\"wp-image-8430\" width=\"468\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-01-at-10.35.37.png 586w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-01-at-10.35.37-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-01-at-10.35.37-184x100.png 184w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Screen-Shot-2021-03-01-at-10.35.37-350x191.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Not taking the SOP aspect lightly, the MOE has distributed the School Reopening Management Guidelines and Models for Pupil Control at School Gates to all schools nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The guidelines encompass various aspects, from students entering the school gate, while at school, as well as when returning home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from primary schools, Vocational Colleges are also open today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for&nbsp;Year Three&nbsp;to&nbsp;Year Six students, they will&nbsp;start&nbsp;attending school on&nbsp;March 8, while&nbsp;secondary schools will commence sessions&nbsp;on&nbsp;April 4 (in&nbsp;Johor,&nbsp;Kedah,&nbsp;Kelantan&nbsp;and&nbsp;Terengganu)&nbsp;and on April&nbsp; 5&nbsp;for the&nbsp;other states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International schools and private educational institutions will reopen on March 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the face-to-face school session has been postponed to March 14 for&nbsp;schools in Kuching, involving the&nbsp; Samarahan, Julau, Meradong, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu, Subis and Miri districts, due to the current COVID-19 situation in the affected&nbsp;areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the COVID-19&nbsp;situation has yet to subside in Malaysia and there is also some states still&nbsp; under enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO), the reopening of the schools&nbsp;is seen as&nbsp;necessary to balance the need for access to education in a safe environment so as to ensure students do&nbsp;not lag behind&nbsp;in their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
