JELI, Feb 27\u00a0— The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has\u00a0not ruled out the possibility that the 15 individuals\u00a0who are being tracked down by the Thai\u00a0police following a deadly attack in southern Thai last Thursday\u00a0would attempt to enter this country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said, therefore, PDRM and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) have enhanced security control at all Malaysia-Thailand borders so as to prepare for any situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBoth PDRM and ATM are constantly reminded to strengthen the border control…with what happened in Thailand, we do not rule out the possibilities that they might attempt to sneak in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said this in\u00a0a news conference after visiting the new Jeli District Police Headquarters construction site here, today, with Minister in the Prime Minister\u2019s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Shafien Mamat also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul Hamid was commenting on the bomb explosion and shooting incident at a village in Ra-ngae, Narathiwat last Thursday which killed two rangers while another was hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ra-ngae police chief Piyapak Thongpanlertkun said initial investigations found that the attackers consist of at least 15 individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, on PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who was called to give statements to the police yesterday, Abdul Hamid said it was a normal procedure in any investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have recorded statements from Anwar on Friday evening over the joint statement issued by the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council in January, which among others rejected the government\u2019s decision to enforce a nationwide emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
