{"id":7814,"date":"2021-01-13T12:12:37","date_gmt":"2021-01-13T04:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=7814"},"modified":"2021-01-13T12:12:38","modified_gmt":"2021-01-13T04:12:38","slug":"sarawak-latest-state-to-be-hit-by-flood-drop-in-evacuees-in-three-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=7814","title":{"rendered":"Sarawak latest state to be hit by flood, drop in evacuees in three states"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KUALA LUMPUR, &nbsp;Jan 13&nbsp;&#8212; Sarawak is the latest state to be hit by the floods in the country, while the situation in&nbsp;Kelantan, Pahang and Sabah is improving with the drop in the number of evacuees, while in Johor, there is a slight increase in the number of victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check at the&nbsp;infobanjir.water.gov.my today, found the water at Sungai Golok, Kuala Jambu in Kelantan and Sungai Pahang in Lubuk Paku, Maran and Serambi in Pekan, as well as Sungai Jelai, Lipis,&nbsp; still above the danger level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apart from that, the Malaysian Meteorological Department&nbsp;(MetMalaysia) has issued a&nbsp;bad and alert weather warning with heavy rain for several areas in Sarawak until tomorrow (Jan 14), while in Sabah, heavy rain is forecast today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In KELANTAN, the number of flood victims at the relief centres (PPS) has dropped to 84 people at 8 am today, from 275 people yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Social Welfare Department\u2019s&nbsp;Info Bencana application, all the flood victims are in the&nbsp;Pasir Mas district with 58 of them at the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tok Deh and 26 others at SK Bakong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\u00a0 PAHANG, there are still 16,292 evacuees, involving 4,483 families, at147 PPS in eight districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-1024x556.jpg\" alt=\"sarawak\" class=\"wp-image-7815\" width=\"506\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-1024x556.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-768x417.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-184x100.jpg 184w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-350x190.jpg 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f-800x434.jpg 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/d7e8c8e06ae925c5159926253101257c5ffe5f123ce7f.jpg 1093w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Temerloh district recorded the highest number of victims, totalling 7,989 people, followed by Pekan (3,172), Maran (2,059), Bera (1,636), Kuantan (749),&nbsp;Lipis&nbsp;(460), Jerantut (154 ) and Raub (73).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In&nbsp;SABAH, the number of evacuees has also dropped, with 951 today, from 1,765 people yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far,&nbsp; four districts, comprising&nbsp;Kota Marudu,&nbsp;Pitas, Tongod and Beaufort, involving a total of 84 villages,&nbsp; are hit by floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, no one has been evacuated in Tongod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, all the victims are at eight&nbsp;PPS in&nbsp; Kota Marudu, Pitas and Beaufort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of 782 evacuees in Kota Marudu have been accommodated at Dewan Kampung Asin-Asin, SK&nbsp;Taritipan, SK Advent Damai and&nbsp; Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tandek, while in Pintas, 41 of them are at SK Salimpodon, Dewan Kampung Kusilad&nbsp;(42) and&nbsp;&nbsp;SK Pekan II (62).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In&nbsp;Beaufort, 24 flood victims are at &nbsp;Dewan Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Dun Banir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In JOHOR, the number of evacuees increased slightly to&nbsp;3,314 people at 8 am today, from&nbsp; 3,274 people at&nbsp;7.30 pm yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State Health and Environment Committee chairman&nbsp;R.
