Former&nbsp;Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has been found guilty on a charge of&nbsp;receiving RM2 million graft&nbsp;from a&nbsp;businessman, four years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High Court&nbsp;judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan ruled&nbsp;that the prosecution had&nbsp;proved&nbsp;its case beyond a reasonable doubt against Tengku Adnan,&nbsp;who&nbsp;turned 70 yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tengku Adnan,\u00a0or better known as Ku Nan, was charged in his capacity as a public servant, namely Minister of Federal Territories, with having received for himself a total of RM2 million from a businessman, Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong, who is Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd (AKSB) director,\u00a0 via a Hong Leong Islamic Bank cheque belonging to the company which was deposited into a CIMB account owned by Tadmansori Holdings Sdn Bhd (THSB), which Tengku Adnan has an interest in and is known to AKSB as being related to his official duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-1024x567.jpg\" alt=\"high court\" class=\"wp-image-7442\" width=\"473\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-1024x567.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-768x425.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-181x100.jpg 181w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-350x194.jpg 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061-800x443.jpg 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/ad89da2af1a84a9bebe308e7fc66258b5fe00d1bee061.jpg 1073w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Putrajaya MP was accused of committing the offence&nbsp;at CIMB Bank Berhad of Pusat Bandar Damansara branch here on June 14 2016&nbsp;under Section 165 of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment of&nbsp;up&nbsp;to two years or a fine or both, if&nbsp;convicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his decision, high court\u00a0Justice Mohamed Zaini ruled\u00a0that there was\u00a0no\u00a0evidence to show the accused withdrew RM2 million from Tadmansori&#8217;s account to pay the expenses of\u00a0Sg Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is undoubtedly apparent that the RM2 million remain in Tadmansori&#8217;s account for the accused&#8217;s benefit&nbsp;and not to pay for the two by-elections.&nbsp;He had used Tadmansori as&nbsp;a facade for his crime,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also said the accused had&nbsp;failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecution&#8217;s case.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I find the accused guilty and convict him on the charge,&#8221;&nbsp;said Justice Mohamed Zaini who read out his judgment at 9.38am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court stood down for 45 minutes to&nbsp;enable the prosecution and the defence to prepare submissions on mitigation before the judge imposed the sentence on&nbsp;the accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Julia Ibrahim while lawyer Datuk Tan Hock Chuan led&nbsp;the defence team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
