HANOI, Dec 17 — Indonesia, the world\u2019s largest palm oil producer, will begin raising export tariffs on crude palm oil (CPO) in order to support its Government\u2019s compulsory bio-fuel programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordingly, the country applies progressive export levies of US$55 to US$255 for each CPO tonne depending on reference prices,\u00a0reported Vietnam News Agency (VNA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indonesian Coordinating Deputy Economic Minister for Food and Agriculture Musdhalifah Machmud said the policy will be revised monthly to suit economic conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The credit rating agency Fitch Ratings said on Monday that the export levy increase will raise biodiesel consumption next year to offset subsidy burden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 According to the Indonesian Palm Oil Association, CPO export will annually decline by 18 per cent this year to 24.92 million tonnes, mostly due to falling demand from the European Union, China and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
