KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 — PAS has decided not to take part in efforts to form the\u00a0new Perak government after Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu failed to get majority support in a vote of confidence at the State Legislative Assembly today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said, however, PAS would continue to play its usual role in society at the state or national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPAS took note of the result of\u00a0the Perak State Legislative Assembly vote of confidence\u00a0on Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu today whereby the three PAS assemblymen supported him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe support is in accordance with the stand made by the PAS political bureau,\u201d he said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmad Faizal failed to obtain the majority support of the state assemblymen in the motion of vote of confidence on the menteri besar at the State Legislative Assembly today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He received only 10 votes of support, while 48 assemblymen voted against him, and one ballot was spoilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Perak State Assembly has 59 representatives comprising 25 BN (UMNO) assemblymen, 16 from DAP, five from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), five from Amanah, three from PKR, three from PAS, and one each from Gerakan and Independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan, in a Facebook posting, said the party leadership would discuss the result of the confidence vote first before issuing any official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
