PUTRAJAYA, Dec 2 — The third meeting of the Digital Economy Task Force (DETF) on Nov 20 focused on the status of implementation for two work processes – e-Commerce Adoption and Government e-Procurement: SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) – which required further intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting, jointly chaired by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, scrutinised efforts to empower digital economy to boost national economic recovery before being incorporated into the relevant clusters under the National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM)) and Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) are the joint lead ministries for DETF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“KKMM\u00a0and\u00a0MOSTI\u00a0will continue with the national agenda to drive national digital economic growth by enhancing digital infrastructure which can support the development and application of emerging new technology,\u201d KKMM\u00a0and MOSTI\u00a0said in a joint statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Digital Economy and 4IR Council held its first meeting on Nov 10, chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. It consists of six clusters, namely Digital Talent, Digital and Data Infrastructure, Emerging New Technology, Economy, Society and Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement said the council would continue with efforts on the DETF work processes through initiative work groups under the relevant clusters to ensure continuity in implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said through past and ongoing initiatives, DETF has set the foundation for economic recovery and empowerment involving all aspects of efforts to speed up digital transformation which can propel business and economic growth as well as empower people through an ecosystem of enablers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement said the National eCommerce Strategic Framework – NESR 2.0 was being formulated with the close cooperation of the private and public sectors as part of efforts to boost business growth in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It reported that the e-Commerce Campaign for Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) and Shop Malaysia Online under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) initiative had benefited 115,000 SMMEs by generating sales of more than RM1.2 billion from June to September this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said the eEntreprenuer initiative had trained 54,500 SMMEs as at August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“SMEs are encouraged to use the government digital platform to increase opportunities to join government procurement and register SME status via SME Corp (https:\/\/smereg.smecorp.gov.my) to facilitate SME participation in government procurement and application for SME incentives and aids provided by the government,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
