KUANTAN, Nov\u00a0 — There should be no issue of which Malay party will be more dominant if Bersatu, PAS, and UMNO form a coalition to face the 15th\u00a0general election, said Pahang Bersatu secretary Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that in the current situation, all parties should be willing to work together and prioritize\u00a0the people\u2019s interests and welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPresent-day politics should be viewed from the current situation; let\u2019s not be influenced by the old political framework which will make it difficult for us to work, as what is important is to place the people first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe should adopt an open attitude and the issue of who is riding (on someone)\u00a0and dominating should not arise in forming a coalition of Malay parties…this coalition should be given a chance to serve,\u201d he told a news conference after attending the Indera Mahkota Prihatin programme here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in his policy address at the Bersatu annual general assembly, said it would be good for all Malay Muslim leaders to be grouped under a major alliance to create stability in Malaysia, instead of being split into small factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saifuddin, the Indera Mahkota Member of Parliament, said the amendment to the Bersatu constitution to enable non-Malays and non-Muslims to become associate members shows the party\u2019s openness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We welcome them to join Bersatu because we still respect and recognise other religions in line with Article 3 of the Federal Constitution which stipulates that Islam is the federal religion while followers of other religions are free to practise their own faiths,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, on today\u2019s programme, Saifuddin said he presented food and cash aid to 50 recipients in the Indera Mahkota constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from this, he said a care home for the elderly would be repaired and upgraded next year with an allocation of RM200,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
