{"id":7013,"date":"2020-11-26T12:44:55","date_gmt":"2020-11-26T04:44:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=7013"},"modified":"2020-11-26T12:45:00","modified_gmt":"2020-11-26T04:45:00","slug":"johor-tables-deficit-budget-for-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=7013","title":{"rendered":"Johor tables deficit budget for 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ISKANDAR PUTERI, Nov 26 &#8211; The Johor&nbsp;government today&nbsp;tabled a deficit&nbsp;budget of RM284.14 million for 2021&nbsp;after&nbsp;10 consecutive years of surplus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the state\u2019s&nbsp;estimated revenue would be&nbsp;RM1.609 billion against projected expenditure of RM1.857 billion&nbsp;next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe state government is expected to spend RM850 million through the Consolidated Development Fund to implement the 12 Key Agenda of Budget 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Yes, this budget is a deficit budget. In the current economic situation, we have to spend more than usual, derived from\u00a0existing sources and being\u00a0more focus,&#8221; he said when presenting\u00a0the state\u2019s Budget 2021 themed\u00a0&#8216;Resilient the Path to\u00a0Prosperity&#8217; he said, adding that the second strategy was&nbsp;based on the concept of counter-cyclical measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe state government will postpone fiscal consolidation efforts until Johor&#8217;s economy expands again,&#8221;
