KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7\u00a0—\u00a0Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) international reserves amounted to\u00a0US$105 billion as of Sept 30, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement today, BNM said the reserves level had taken into account the quarterly foreign exchange revaluation changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said the reserves\u00a0position is sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central bank said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$97.8 billion), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3 billion), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs; US$1.2 billion), gold (US$2.3 billion), and other reserve assets (US$2.4 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assets comprised gold and foreign exchange and other reserves, including SDRs amounting to RM436.46 billion; Malaysian government papers (RM10.99 billion); deposits with financial institutions (RM5.21 billion); loans and advances (RM16.73 billion); land and buildings (RM4.16 billion); and other assets (RM15.33 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central bank added that capital and liabilities comprised paid-up capital (RM100 million); reserves (RM170.09 billion); currency in circulation (RM126.37 billion); deposits by financial institutions (RM143.06 billion), federal government deposits (RM10.26 billion) and other deposits (RM9.85 billion); Bank Negara papers (RM15.92 billion); allocation of SDRs (RM7.86 billion); and other liabilities (RM5.36 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
