WASHINGTON, Oct 4 — United States (US) President Donald Trump who has contracted the coronavirus released a video on Twitter saying he is feeling better and plans to return to work soon, according to Sputnik News Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, sitting at a table with a US flag behind him and wearing a suit but no tie, thanked the doctors and all medical professionals at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland, where he appears to have recorded the video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I came here, wasn\u2019t feeling so well, I feel much better now, we are working hard to get me all the way back,” Trump said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019ll be back soon and I look forward to finishing up the campaign,” the president added, saying “We are going to beat this coronavirus or whatever you\u2019re gonna call it and we\u2019re gonna beat it soundly.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the 4-minute video Trump thanked everyone for support and said he was fighting for all Americans.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Over the next period of a few days I guess that\u2019s the real test, so we\u2019ll see what happens over that next couple of days,” Trump said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president said he had been told to stay at the White House amid the coronavirus pandemic but he could not stay locked up because, as a leader, it was his duty to confront problems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump said his wife Melania was feeling well as she is younger and young people tend to experience milder symptoms of COVID-19.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am also doing well and I think we\u2019re going to have a very good result. Again, over the next few days we\u2019re gonna probably know for sure,” Trump said, thanking people in the US and across the world for words of support. “The outpouring of love has been incredible, I will never forget,” the president stressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote on Twitter earlier on Saturday that he had talked to Trump over the phone and that the president sounded “well.”  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Just had another great call with @POTUS. He sounds well and says he\u2019s feeling good. We talked about the people\u2019s business \u2014 fighting the pandemic, confirming Judge Barrett, and strengthening the economy for American families. Let\u2019s keep our President & First Lady in our prayers,” McConnell said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier on Saturday, Trump thanked the staff at the Walter Reed Medical Center saying that tremendous progress had been made over the past 6 months in fighting the coronavirus. Trump departed for the medical center on Friday, after announcing on Twitter that he and his wife Melania had tested positive for COVID-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, White House physician Dr Sean Conley told a media briefing that the president was doing “very well” and was responding positively to treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, a source familiar with Trump’s health situation later told reporters that the president’s vital signs over the past 24 hours had been concerning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White House said on Friday that the US president was experiencing mild symptoms, was in good spirits and would continue working through the presidential election in November as well as remain on the presidential ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
