{"id":5736,"date":"2020-09-01T11:32:11","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T03:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=5736"},"modified":"2020-09-01T11:32:15","modified_gmt":"2020-09-01T03:32:15","slug":"malaysia-to-invest-in-latest-telecommunications-and-other-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=5736","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia to invest in latest telecommunications and other technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 &nbsp;&#8212;&nbsp;Malaysia will invest significantly in the latest generation telecommunications and other technologies in the quest to achieve a high-income nation status, said Communications and Multimedia Minister&nbsp;Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said so far, Malaysia has 71 5G use cases demonstration led by&nbsp;private companies, namely Celcom, Digi, edotco, Maxis, Petronas, Telekom Malaysia, U Mobile, and YTL, as well as&nbsp;their ecosystem partners consisting of digital solution providers, ministries, agencies, integrators and vendors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese use cases were demonstrated across seven states (Kedah, Pahang, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Terengganu, and the Federal Territories) with a total industry investment of RM131 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-1024x582.jpg\" alt=\"invest\" class=\"wp-image-5737\" width=\"501\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-1024x582.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-768x436.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-176x100.jpg 176w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-350x199.jpg 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db-800x455.jpg 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/fd4c8da7c795b109a0aa63d153777ac15f44d394255db.jpg 1042w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese projects focus on facilitating and cultivating the development of a holistic and inclusive 5G ecosystem, which stimulates the demand, as well as adoption,\u201d he said in his keynote address at the Invest Malaysia 2020 &#8212; Virtual Series 3, here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saifuddin said as various industries adopt 5G, it could positively influence other industries\u2019 contribution rate to the gross domestic product (GDP)&nbsp;effectively, allowing the country to produce and manufacture more high-quality goods and services, ultimately benefitting the rakyat with improved earnings and affordability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&nbsp;said the government has extended the period of the 5G demonstration project (5GDP) until&nbsp;Dec 31, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo the innovators, service providers, and relevant stakeholders, this is an exciting time for Malaysia.
