Saifuddin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26\u00a0&#8212;\u00a0West Malaysia must learn from Sabah, Sarawak because\u00a0they have preserved their strong racial unity and religious harmony,\u00a0Communications and Multimedia Minister\u00a0Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the strong racial and religious\u00a0harmony tradition which had been the strength of the East Malaysian states, has rarely been discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It is the peace and harmony\u00a0enjoyed by the people, that makes\u00a0Sabah, Sarawak special and I feel\u00a0we in the Peninsula should learn about their progressive harmonious and unifying efforts in building a multi-religious and multi-racial society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Malaysians should be exposed to the diverse and colourful society as there\u00a0are fine examples which we can follow,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Saifuddin, he was aware that the matter was often raised, especially in the run-up to a&nbsp;state election where&nbsp;political parties would try to&nbsp;polemise the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s important is we have to get the right message across&nbsp;on what the government is doing for Sabah and Sarawak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There are times when our politicians make inaccurate statements to make it look as if&nbsp;Sabah and Sarawak are being marginalised,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While admitting that the two states have somewhat been left behind&nbsp;in terms of education and infrastructure development, he said, efforts are being made to improve and upgrade these facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
