SEPANG, Aug 22\u00a0—\u00a0Bangladeshi national, Md Rayhan Kabir, who was interviewed in the\u00a0Al Jazeera documentary titled\u00a0\u201cLocked Up in Malaysia\u2019s Lockdown\u201d has been deported to his\u00a0home country tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was brought to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at about 9 pm by Immigration officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Md Rayhan, 25,\u00a0who was carrying a sling bag managed to wave and give\u00a0a thumbs-up sign to a group of media representatives before being brought to the Immigration counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was learned that he would be taking a Malaysia Airlines flight to Dhaka, Bangladesh at 11 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Md Rayhan was detained in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on July 24 after the Immigration Department sought public assistance to track down the individual who appeared the Al Jazeera documentary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the documentary, Md Rayhan spoke about the treatment of illegal immigrants by the Malaysian authorities during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immigration director-general\u00a0Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud\u00a0had earlier announced that Md Rayhan\u00a0would be deported to his country of origin after all police investigations\u00a0have been completed apart from canceling his work permit\u00a0and he was also blacklisted from entering Malaysia forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
