{"id":5321,"date":"2020-08-02T22:57:05","date_gmt":"2020-08-02T14:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=5321"},"modified":"2020-08-02T22:57:08","modified_gmt":"2020-08-02T14:57:08","slug":"bn-allies-to-contest-73-seats-in-sabah-election-bung-moktar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=5321","title":{"rendered":"BN, allies to contest 73 seats in Sabah election: Bung Moktar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KOTA KINABALU, Aug&nbsp;2 \u2014 Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) and allied&nbsp;parties including&nbsp;Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and&nbsp;STAR will be contesting in all 73 seats&nbsp;of the State Legislative Assembly in the coming state election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sabah&nbsp;BN comprises UMNO, MCA and&nbsp;Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sabah&nbsp;BN chairman&nbsp;Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin&nbsp;said BN would be holding negotiations with its allied&nbsp;parties on the division of seats for&nbsp;the election in a day or&nbsp;two and assured that negotiations would be completed in&nbsp;two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday, we decided that we will be contesting in 73 seats to challenge Warisan\u00a0Sabah. This\u00a0means Sabah UMNO will be negotiating in a day or two with our allies\u00a0who are not pro-Warisan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-1024x551.jpg\" alt=\"bn\" class=\"wp-image-5322\" width=\"481\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-1024x551.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-300x161.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-768x413.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-186x100.jpg 186w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-350x188.jpg 350w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5-800x430.jpg 800w, https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/7b7930a289e22ebfce187423c7850d465f268970e88c5.jpg 1091w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is important as we want\u00a0to ensure victory in the coming state election,\u201d he said after chairing an UMNO\u00a0Political and\u00a0Liaison Bureau Meeting at the state UMNO headquarters here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bung Moktar\u00a0who is also Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee chairman said after completing negotiations, the party would finalize the seats to be contested including the announcement of the full list of candidates for the\u00a0state election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sabah\u00a0UMNO\u00a0is now identifying the eligible candidates to contest on the party\u2019s ticket and would be fielding 85 to 90 percent new\u00a0faces in the state election, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For&nbsp;the state election,&nbsp;Bung Moktar&nbsp;said Sabah UMNO&nbsp;hoped to contest in more than the 32 seats it contested during the&nbsp;14th general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bung Moktar&nbsp;who also confirmed contesting in the new&nbsp;Lamag state constituency, said this&nbsp;election would be extraordinary for all parties including Warisan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, what is important is that we (UMNO) should&nbsp;assured the voters and people&nbsp;in the urban&nbsp;and rural areas as well as youths that this&nbsp;election is&nbsp;in the new normal and&nbsp;the people would be waiting for new offers which could be fulfilled and implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSabah&nbsp;UMNO&nbsp;will be giving new offers (in this election) to ensure stability, security and the economic&nbsp;development of&nbsp;the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile,&nbsp;Bung Moktar&nbsp;when asked who would be the Sabah Chief Minister from UMNO, he said: \u201cThere are many candidates (chief minister).
