KUALA LUM\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bPUR, July 13\u00a0\u00a0— Digitalization of the government service delivery system will provide\u00a0fast service to the people and reduce\u00a0their need to visit counters at government agencies, said\u00a0Chief Secretary to the Government\u00a0Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, he said the reduction or closure of counters at government agencies can be done as the people can access the services online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe digitalization (of the\u00a0government delivery system)\u00a0will also enable the government to identify services that\u00a0can be upgraded to end-to-end online\u00a0services through\u00a0business process reengineering, skills development process, human resources, regulatory and policy studies and the use of digital technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCivil servants involved in the reduction or closure of the counters can embark on reskilling as needed,\u201d he said in a written interview today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohd Zuki said through the\u00a0digitalization exercise, work processes could be implemented\u00a0by civil servants\u00a0online anywhere and anytime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said some of the processes could be carried out through the automation of the service delivery system which would also provide efficient and fast service to the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Mohd Zuki said the government was aiming to achieve its 40 percent target of end-to-end online services\u00a0by year-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis will enable the government to review the existing KPIs (key performance indicators) in order to achieve the goal of accelerating and facilitating the services provided to the people under the new normal of the post-COVID-19,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohd Zuki said\u00a0the\u00a0digitalization\u00a0of the\u00a0government\u00a0service\u00a0delivery\u00a0system is\u00a0also\u00a0one of the key initiatives under the\u00a0National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA), aimed at encouraging\u00a0the provision of\u00a0more facilities, which will enable the public and the business community to deal with government agencies online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c(For example), during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, many business activities could not operate as usual due to the closure of government offices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
