KUALA LUMPUR, July 6\u00a0— All forms of action\u00a0taken against illegals in the country is for national security and health reasons, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said no country would\u00a0allow illegals to move freely,\u00a0especially in the face of global dangers posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this regard, Abdul Hamid said the police will continue to assist the Immigration Department enforce the Immigration Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring\u00a0the ongoing Recovery Movement Conditional Order (RMCO), the police will continue to intensify efforts to monitor\u00a0sea and land borders against the entry of illegals. At the same time, (we will) ensure\u00a0(there is) no discrimination against\u00a0those arrested,\u201d\u00a0he said when contacted by Bernama here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul Hamid was commenting on the\u00a0Al Jazeera documentary, \u2018Locked Up in Malaysia\u2019s Lockdown\u2019 which claimed Malaysia\u00a0was discriminating illegals in its COVID-19 prevention efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the report was inaccurate and police investigations were ongoing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bernama learnt that the Immigrant Department has lodged a police report on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, who refuted the report, said the allegation was baseless as Malaysia introduced the Movement Control Order (MCO) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 regardless of whether those subjected to it were citizen or foreigners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
