{"id":4895,"date":"2020-07-05T21:56:07","date_gmt":"2020-07-05T13:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=4895"},"modified":"2020-07-05T21:56:10","modified_gmt":"2020-07-05T13:56:10","slug":"rtm-ready-to-continue-tv-pendidikan-says-mcmc-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=4895","title":{"rendered":"RTM ready to continue TV pendidikan says MCMC Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KUANTAN, July 5\u00a0\u00a0&#8212; Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM)\u00a0is ready to continue the\u00a0educational television program, TV Pendidikan,\u00a0even after schools\u00a0reopen, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the matter had to be decided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) as RTM only provided the&nbsp;broadcast platform via&nbsp;Okey TV&nbsp;for two hours daily starting April 6 after&nbsp;schools were forced to be&nbsp;closed&nbsp;following the COVID-19 outbreak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The idea of TV Pendidikan\u00a0will continue because even though schools have been reopened, the\u00a0need for educational broadcast\u00a0still exists. In fact,\u00a0the idea of establishing the\u00a0TV program\u00a0is already there, even before COVID-19,&#8221; he told a press conference after the tabling of Indera Mahkota MP report card\u00a0here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2a8dadcefdd6f992a30fac18995fab315f01b3b8805d9-1024x555.jpg\" alt=\"rtm\" class=\"wp-image-4896\" width=\"480\" height=\"260\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KKMM and MOE\u00a0have collaborated to air\u00a0TV Pendidikan\u00a0program to enable students to access learning materials other than online learning during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Minister (Education) Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin on July 1, announced that&nbsp;schools&nbsp;would reopen&nbsp;in stages starting July 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On his performance report, Saifuddin said 50 percent or RM1.9 million of the total\u00a0RM3.8 million allocation as a member of Parliament was used for the development of people-friendly\u00a0infrastructure projects, followed by RM1.15 million for management of programmes and activities while the remaining RM0.75 million for welfare and disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said among the people-friendly projects that had been carried out\u00a0were the repairing\u00a0of roads at five locations, the repairing\u00a0and upgrading of facilities such as public hall, fishermen&#8217;s center, school,\u00a0and sports court\u00a0as well as maintenance and cleaning works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, it also involved a&nbsp;special project&nbsp;to upgrade public facilities at Taman Bandar&nbsp;here, repairing escalators at Kuantan Central Terminal and pump installation at&nbsp;Semambu Water Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saifuddin also said that the tender for the upgrading work of&nbsp;Jalan Bukit Pengorak at a cost of RM250 million would be called soon&nbsp;while works involving Jalan&nbsp;Sungai Ular&nbsp;to Chendor would be included in the 12th Malaysia Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have also spent RM450,000 for\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0aid,\u00a0involving over 4,000 recipients,\u00a0including the handing over of food baskets, milk, and\u00a0disposable diapers, face masks and disinfectants as well as\u00a0food packages to frontliners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have also spent RM300,000 on the purchase of hospital beds and wheelchairs as well as&nbsp;repairing&nbsp;13 homes and providing cash aid&nbsp;to 1,040 recipients,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For operating expenditure, Saifuddin said it involved the implementation of programs\u00a0or activities for 16 secondary schools, primary schools (30), registered tahfiz centers (five), mosques and surau\u00a0(40), temples (four), non-governmental organizations (15) and associations (73).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, allocations\u00a0have also been channeled\u00a0to strengthen education in Indera Mahkota including\u00a0programs of excellence and\u00a0increasing English proficiency, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the period up to May next year, Saifuddin said various programs would be implemented including empowering the\u00a0&#8216;IMFutures&#8217;
