it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on recent booking data, the top domestic destinations over the last 30 days in Malaysia, include Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guests are also satisfying their wanderlust\u00a0with travel to non-urban three\u00a0destinations, such as Cameron Highlands, Kuala Terengganu, Port\u00a0Dickson, and more, comprising almost 64 percent\u00a0of bookings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in a world with reduced travel, Airbnb has the potential to generate billions of dollars for local economies, as one of the unique aspects of Airbnb\u2019s host and guest,\u00a0the community keeps\u00a0economic benefits locally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, Airbnb\u2019s direct economic impact in 30 top markets was US$117 billion, a 17-per cent increase over 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regional Director (Asia-Pacific) Kum Hong Siew\u00a0said\u00a0Airbnb\u00a0is already seeing early positive signs of domestic travel getting ready to make a\u00a0comeback, driven by locals booking holidays that are closer to home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to working hand in hand with governments, tourist agencies, communities, and other key local stakeholders in Malaysia to help restore travel in a responsible way that economically benefits local citizens and small businesses, paving the way towards tourism\u2019s much-needed recovery,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;
