Tun Daim Zainuddin refused to take Jho Low’s calls<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

KUALA LUMPUR, Sep 6 – The chairman of the Council of Eminent Persons, Tun Daim Zainuddin revealed that he turned down fugitive Malaysian businessman Low Taek Jho’s attempts to contact him several times prior to his official visit to China in July.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview on the Soal Rakyat programme aired on TV3 last night, the former finance minister said he did not wish to speak to Low, who is better known as Jho Low, and asked that his calls be directed to his representative instead.<\/p>\n

According to Daim, Jho Low had wanted to speak to him to help resolve issues related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad wanted to send me to China, Jho Low contacted him. He then wanted to talk to me but I turned him down; I told him to speak to my representative,” Daim was quoted as saying by Bernama.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe (Low) said he could assist on matters relating to 1MDB but before this, I have said in the first media conference with the CEP that if he is not guilty, he should return. That night he called me.”<\/p>\n

Daim added that since the Pakatan Harapan government took over the administration of the country, some of the people involved in the 1MDB scandal have come forward to become witnesses in any legal action that ensues.<\/p>\n
