PUTRAJAYA, June 13 —\u00a0The public has been urged to\u00a0refer to the list of hospitals and clinics with COVID-19 screening, as approved by the Health Ministry (MOH), to avoid confusion and being duped by\u00a0irresponsible parties. Health director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said to date, over 50 private hospitals and clinics nationwide, have been given the approval to conduct the screening.<\/p>\n

“We urge the public to refer the \u00a0MOH CPRC (Crisis Preparedness\u00a0and\u00a0Response Centre) portal,” he said at the COVID-19 daily media conference here today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Dr. Noor Hisham also called on the public to immediately report to the authorities and MOH if they were aware of fraudulent activities and the issuing of fake\u00a0COVID-19 screening documents.<\/p>\n

He said such activities were in violation of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988\u00a0(Act 342) and stern action could be taken.<\/p>\n

Yesterday it was reported that police arrested five Bangladeshi men after they were suspected to be involved\u00a0in the\u00a0syndication\u00a0of\u00a0fake COVID-19 screening\u00a0documents involving\u00a0foreigners,\u00a0in a raid at Jalan\u00a0Tengkat Tong Shin\u00a0<\/em>on June 9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On the\u00a0Pakistani barber found to be a COVID-19 positive case yesterday, Dr. Noor Hisham said, so far the case has\u00a0not been classified as a cluster as only one person was confirmed to be positive.<\/p>\n

He said the appropriate follow-up action had been taken by running tests on close contacts and the people he had attended to.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe case (barber) has already been isolated and admitted to the hospital while the close contacts have been identified and\u00a0told to self-quarantine at home. So, action has been taken and investigations are underway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Asked about the Xinfadi wholesale market in Beijing which was ordered to close after 45 traders were found positive and the virus was detected on chopping boards used to handle salmon,\u00a0Dr. Noor Hisham said the issue of cleanliness cannot be compromised.<\/p>\n

“Cross-contamination is likely to occur\u00a0when a chopping board is not cleaned.\u00a0We need to remind everyone to maintain cleanliness and basic hygiene,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have\u00a0learned the importance of\u00a0cleanliness and good hygiene in curbing the spread of the virus,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He said though it seemed\u00a0that we have succeeded in curbing COVID-19 transmission, the virus is still lurking in the community and as such, it was\u00a0important for everyone\u00a0to take a serious approach in maintaining cleanliness as the new norm.<\/p>\n

In another development, Dr. Noor Hisham said so far, there had been no increase in\u00a0COVID-19 positive cases among MOH frontliners.<\/p>\n

A total of 416 MOH health workers were confirmed to have been\u00a0infected, but 80 percent of the cases were found to have contracted the virus from the community or their\u00a0colleagues, not in the wards while at work,\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n
