PETALING JAYA – Bank Negara Malaysia has appointed Marzunisham Omar as deputy governor and Norhana Endut as assistant governor at the central bank.<\/p>\n

With a three-year term effective June 15, Marzunisham is in charge of the bank\u2019s corporate management, including currency, finance, digital technology, human capital, and corporate services.<\/p>\n

According to a statement released by BNM, Marzunisham will be appointed to the bank\u2019s board of directors, serving on various committees dealing with management, monetary policy, financial stability, reserve management, and risk management. He has also been appointed to head the National Coordination Committee to Counter Money Laundering (NCC).<\/p>\n

He will also be the deputy governor in charge of the financial intelligence and enforcement department.<\/p>\n

Marzunisham has 27 years of experience in central banking, ranging from economic and monetary policy, financial sector regulation and development, and organizational development. He has previously served as the executive director of the Southeast Asia Voting Group Constituency at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Norhana, who\u00a0holds a Ph.D. and a Master\u2019s degree in Economics from the Washington University, St Louis, USA, and a bachelor\u2019s degree in economics from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom will be responsible for the economics, monetary policy, data management, statistics departments as well as International Departments.<\/p>\n
