KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will intensify\u00a0monitoring of\u00a0activities related to illegal racing and motorcycle convoy\u00a0throughout the enforcement of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).<\/p>\n

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department\u00a0director Datuk Azisman Alias \u200b\u200bsaid his department\u2019s Intelligence Unit (42\u00a0Squad) would monitor\u00a0the situation including curbing street gang activities.<\/p>\n

He said legal action,\u00a0similar to what was being enforced during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, would be imposed against offenders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIf they commit offenses such as speeding, reckless, and dangerous driving as well as drink-driving then they will be brought to court for further action.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 42\u00a0Squad is always ready to be deployed including to intensify the \u201cOps Mabuk\u2019 operations,\u201d he told Bernama when asked to comment on the motorcycle convoy activities that would be\u00a0allowed throughout the RMCO.<\/p>\n

Azisman said thus far no reports related to illegal racing and motorcycle convoy activities were received, but police would continuously monitor the situation\u00a0and to set up\u00a0roadblocks from time to time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a special message announced that the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to be replaced by the RMCO from June 10 to Aug 31.<\/p>\n

The RMCO, among others, has allowed\u00a0for interstate travel and outdoor activities such as cycling and motorcycle convoys to be carried out.<\/p>\n

On the traffic flows following the lifting of the interstate travel ban, Azisman said his department expected the number of vehicles to increase this weekend and advised the public to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
