MELAKA, June 7 – The National Economic Recovery\u00a0Plan (PENJANA) is a sustainable\u00a0economic stimulus package aimed at reigniting the growth of the country’s trade, industrial and manufacturing sectors that have been battered by\u00a0COVID-19.<\/p>\n
Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister\u00a0Datuk Lim Ban Hong said small and medium\u00a0enterprises or entrepreneurs were expected to gain various benefits under PENAJA to help sustain their businesses, thus restoring the economy of various\u00a0sectors.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have entered the recovery phase of the national economy and COVID-19\u00a0but the\u00a0efforts require\u00a0the cooperation of all parties, namely the government,\u00a0public and private sectors, industries\u00a0and people.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany initiatives provided by the government under PENJANA for employers, workers,\u00a0industries and\u00a0sectors are aimed at enhancing the country\u2019s economic growth, productivity and operations of various\u00a0industries,” he told reporters after visiting a personal protective\u00a0equipment (PPE) packaging and distribution centre\u00a0here today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali and State Health Director Dr Ismail Ali were present.<\/p>\n
Lim said the economic stimulus packages introduced would ensure that all sectors that could contribute\u00a0to the people’s well-being and the country\u2019s economy\u00a0could be fully mobilised, thus balancing micro and macro-economic growth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
On Friday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin announced 40 initiatives under the RM35 billion PENJANA which, among others, were aimed at enhancing\u00a0job security, gig economy, industrial resilience and business cash flow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Themed ‘Building the Economy Together’, the package also aims to strengthen the country’s economy which has been affected by COVID-19.<\/p>\n
