Tengku Zafrul"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, June\u00a02 &#8211; The Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan for\u00a0June to December 2020\u00a0period will be launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin this month, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri\u00a0Zafrul Abdul Aziz.<\/p>\n<p>Tengku Zafrul said the\u00a0plan would still focus on three key objectives, namely to empower people, propel businesses, and stimulate the economy.<\/p>\n<p>In drafting this plan, he said the government&#8217;s approach was based on four characteristics, namely must be agile and dynamic, prioritising\u00a0public-private sector cooperation, ensuring comprehensive communication by upholding transparency and openness, as well as using data-based approach.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>\u201cTruly, the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan represents an opportunity for us to take advantage of new opportunities arising from the\u00a0COVID-19 crisis for the sake of the nation&#8217;s future development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInsyaAllah (God willing), the initiatives that will be announced by the Prime Minister would enable us to achieve the objectives that have been set,\u201d he said when presenting the Prihatin-Laksana&#8217;s seventh progress\u00a0report today.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the first characteristic, that is, agile and dynamic, Tengku Zafrul said this meant that the plan could be improved and refined continually,\u00a0according to current needs and uncertain or unprecedented situation, throughout this\u00a0year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>On prioritising\u00a0public-private sector cooperation, he said the\u00a0plan would cover various measures with the cooperation of as many industry players from the private sector, and not only from government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies.<\/p>\n<p>Thirdly, comprehensive communication and wide reach \u2013 wherein the people and business sector in\u00a0Malaysia should be confident of this plan so that all would be able to play their respective roles to regenerate the country&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government will ensure the communication efforts are done continuously, whereby transparency and openness were important in making these efforts a success,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>On the fourth feature &#8212; data-based approach,\u00a0Tengku Zafrul said the implementation of the plan would be based on data and statistics so that each achievement could be monitored and refined with speed and accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe latest data will be shared with the government and private\u00a0sectors, as well as implementing\u00a0agencies for continuous improvements,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tengku Zafrul, the Short-Term Economic Recovery Plan is the fourth of the six-phase approach or 6R in weathering the health and economic challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The 6R approach are Resolve in containing COVID-19 by implementing the Movement Control Order (MCO);\u00a0 Resilience through the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package to improve the ability of the people and economy; Restart\u00a0the economy in an orderly manner; Recovery via economic strategies; Revitalise the overall economy; and Reform the economic\u00a0structure to move into the new\u00a0normal era.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
