{"id":4009,"date":"2020-05-27T23:28:38","date_gmt":"2020-05-27T15:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=4009"},"modified":"2020-05-28T06:31:59","modified_gmt":"2020-05-27T22:31:59","slug":"online-university-lectures-until-dec-31-except-for-five-categories-mohe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=4009","title":{"rendered":"Online university lectures until Dec 31, except for five categories &#8211; MOHE"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>PUTRAJAYA, May 27 &#8211; All teaching and learning (PdP) programmes at all public universities (UA) and private institutions of higher learning (IPTS) must be conducted online, with no face-to-face lessons allowed, until Dec 31.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), in a statement today, said, however, exceptions\u00a0would be given to five categories of students who needed to return to campus in order to resume PdP programmes.<\/p>\n<p>It said\u00a0permission would be given to post-graduate students in the \u2018research mode\u2019 to resume their research\u00a0immediately.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<div class=\"mx-auto mb-4\">\n<div id=\"jssor_1497383208136\" data-jssor-slider=\"1\">\n<div data-scale-ratio=\"1\">\n<div data-u=\"slides\">\n<p>\u201cThis flexibility is only allowed to students who are required to physically present at laboratory, workshops, design studios or requiring\u00a0specialised equipment to conduct their research,\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The remaining four categories of students include the final year or\u00a0final semester students under the certificate, diploma and bachelor&#8217;s degree-levels who are required to carry out clinical work, practical training, laboratory, workshop, design studio, or in need of specialised equipment, and they are allowed to conduct\u00a0PdP in their campuses\u00a0from July 1.<\/p>\n<p>An exception is also given for final year or final semester students who do not have required access and without any conducive environment to carry out PdP online. These students are allowed to return to their respective campuses from\u00a0July 1, and to use campus infrastructure for online PdP.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<div class=\"mx-auto mb-4\">\n<div id=\"jssor_1310627511137\" data-jssor-slider=\"1\">\n<div data-scale-ratio=\"1\">\n<div data-u=\"slides\">\n<p>The ministry has also given an exception to students with special needs pursuing the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes at polytechnics\u00a0and community colleges who require\u00a0face-to-face guidance in implementing PdP due to learning problems and they are allowed to return to campus beginning Aug 1.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>An exception is also given to all new intake\u00a0students for\u00a0the 2020\/2021 academic session at all UA, IPTS, polytechnics and community colleges for the certificate, foundation and diploma level for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holders and bachelor\u2019s\u00a0degree programme for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) leavers with the admission\u00a0will be carried out in stages.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry\u00a0said that\u00a0the admission of certificate and diploma students at polytechnics and community colleges to start on July 1.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Admission for foundation, certificate, diploma and bachelor&#8217;s degree at\u00a0IPTS will begin on July 1; and for foundation and diploma students at UA it will be from Aug 1.<\/p>\n<p>For bachelor\u2019s degree and post-graduate research mode students\u00a0at the UA and the IPTS, the admission\u00a0will begin on Oct 1.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry also said that the implementation of academic activities in campuses must be in\u00a0compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and to prioritise safety measures and social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>These regulations are subject to directives from the authorities from time to time, it said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
