Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>TANJUNG MALIM, May 21 &#8211; Thousands of motorists experienced massive traffic jams following roadblocks set up by Selangor police at all exit points from the state involving\u00a0highways, state roads and municipal roads leading to other states.<\/p>\n<p>Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed\u00a0said until 3 pm today thousands of vehicles were detected leaving the Klang Valley through Selangor\u00a0and were heading\u00a0North,\u00a0South\u00a0and the\u00a0East Coast to other states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, most of them had\u00a0approval letters for interstate travel\u00a0especially the commercial vehicles,\u201d\u00a0he told reporters when met here today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Arjunaidi said the number of vehicles directed to turn back\u00a0was much lesser compared to earlier days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u00a0alone, more than 35 vehicles were ordered to turn back while passing a road block on the highway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the factors for the severe congestion is due to\u00a0police checks carried out at every roadblock took time\u00a0to ensure that vehicles which had\u00a0approval for interstate travel were holding authentic permits,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>In addition, Arjunaidi said he would increase roadblocks at five major exit points in the state to curb unauthorised interstate travel\u00a0ahead of Aidilfitri.<\/p>\n<p>Among them are at the PLUS Expressway heading north near the Tanjung Malim Toll Plaza,\u00a0PLUS near the Putra Mahkota Toll Plaza (southbound) and the North South Expressway Central Link\u00a0(Elite) near the Bandar Serania Toll Plaza (southbound).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
