KUALA LUMPUR, May\u00a02\u00a0 – The words ‘Thank You\u00a0COVID-19 Frontliners’ flashed across\u00a0Dataran Kawad (parade\u00a0square) in conjunction with the \u2018Light it Blue\u2019 campaign at Istana Negara here tonight.<\/p>\n

The campaign was\u00a0to express gratitude and appreciation to the frontliners for their sacrifices in the battle against the deadly COVID-19 coronavirus.<\/p>\n

The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and her children spent 45 minutes to witness the programme at the Istana Negara grounds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tunku Azizah and her family\u00a0expressed their gratitude to the frontliners and the government for their commitment and perseverance in carrying out their duties\u00a0to curb\u00a0the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Her Majesty also urged\u00a0Malaysians to appreciate all the frontline workers, as well as to cooperate and help the government to fight the pandemic and to continue to be patient in facing the challenging\u00a0situation.<\/p>\n

“I hope the citizens of Malaysia will work together with the government;\u00a0I hope we will be patient in facing these\u00a0challenges.<\/p>\n

“I hope Malaysians can be patient, no matter what;\u00a0it is for your own good,” she said, adding that blue was her\u00a0favourite colour.<\/p>\n

Three strategic locations at Istana Negara, namely the\u00a0Dataran Kawad, Kubah Anjung Utama (main dome) and Pintu Gerbang Utama\u00a0(main archway)\u00a0will be illuminated in blue lights for four nights from April 30 to May 3.<\/p>\n

Sharing the atmosphere of Ramadan this year, Tunku\u00a0Azizah said that she and her family were\u00a0getting used to the\u00a0new normal.<\/p>\n

“Alhamdulillah, the lockdown has the whole palace reciting the Quran and (we are) almost \u2018khatam\u2019 (completion of Quran reading).<\/p>\n

“I\u00a0and my children also cook daily for\u00a0Tuanku (the King),” she told reporters.<\/p>\n
