{"id":3748,"date":"2020-05-01T20:35:13","date_gmt":"2020-05-01T12:35:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3748"},"modified":"2020-05-01T20:35:13","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T12:35:13","slug":"kelantan-doe-will-monitor-illegal-mining-activities-in-tanah-merah-tuan-ibrahim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3748","title":{"rendered":"Kelantan DOE will monitor illegal mining activities in Tanah Merah &#8211; Tuan Ibrahim"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>KOTA BHARU, May 1 &#8211; The\u00a0Kelantan Department of Environment\u00a0(DOE) have\u00a0been ordered to monitor illegal mining activities in Kampung Lawang, Tanah Merah, 45\u00a0km from here, allegedly carried out by foreigners during the\u00a0Movement Control Order (MCO), which have\u00a0led\u00a0to river pollution.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Environment and Water\u00a0Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan\u00a0Man said the ministry would not compromise with anyone who caused river pollutions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our priority\u00a0is clean\u00a0water,&#8221; he told reporters after handing over 11 cubicles for testing COVID-19 to Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin at the Wisma\u00a0Persekutuan compound here today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<div class=\"mx-auto mb-4\">\n<div id=\"jssor_899289558136\" data-jssor-slider=\"1\">\n<div data-scale-ratio=\"1\">\n<div data-u=\"slides\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>The cubicle, produced by the Ibn Sina Malaysia Medical Charity Organisation (Papisma), was the result of a\u00a0contribution from Ibrahim and a non-governmental organisation (NGO) to help facilitate frontline personnel screen\u00a0individuals suspected of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, the mining issue came to light after villagers found the polluted\u00a0river water due to mining activities by about 30 foreigners.<\/p>\n<p>Tuan Ibrahim said DOE\u00a0would look into every\u00a0complaint\u00a0on water and air pollution, although overall, the level of pollution for both had\u00a0decreased following the implementation of the MCO.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>&#8220;The garbage\u00a0pollution in the Klang River is 50 per cent less than before the MCO and the air condition is excellent.
