KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 \u00a0– A man who was found trespassing in a restaurant at 11.10 pm\u00a0while defying Movement Control Order (MCO) was sentenced to 10 weeks\u2019 imprisonment by the Magistrate’s Court here, today.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Mohamad Aizat Abdul Rahim meted out the sentence to Wan Suhaimil Wan Sulaiman, 32, who pleaded guilty to both charges read separately by an interpreter.<\/p>\n

The court ruled that both sentences be served concurrently from the date of his arrest on April 27.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wan Suhaimil was charged with criminal trespassing by entering a restaurant in Kampung Baru, Jalan Dewan Sultan Sulaiman in Dang Wangi here at 11.10 pm on April 27 on the excuse of easing himself.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He was also charged for travelling from Jalan Khatib Koyan Kampung Baru to the restaurant at 11.20 pm on the same date.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, 52 individuals including one woman pleaded guilty in three Magistrate’s Courts here for defying MCO by gathering to gamble and moving from one place to another on\u00a0various excuses including buying cigarettes and food.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Forty five of the accused, including the woman, were fined RM800 or three weeks\u00a0in jail in lieu of the fine\u00a0while the other seven were jailed between\u00a010 days to a month from the date of arrest between April 19 and 29.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

All of them, including foreign nationals from India, Myanmar and Bangladesh aged between 16 and 64, were charged with committing the offence\u00a0at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Dang Wangi, Cheras and Setapak, from 8 pm to 11 pm, between April 19 and 29.<\/p>\n

The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutors Siti Nur Hajar Hamzah and Najihah Farhana Che Awang.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Retiree gets community service for breaching quarantine order<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Meanwhile in Klang,\u00a0 a government retiree was sentenced to\u00a0Compulsory Attendance Order (PKW) for two months\u00a0by the Sessions Court here today for breaching the home quarantine order imposed on him last month.<\/p>\n

Judge\u00a0Roszianayati Ahmad ordered\u00a0Misri Parlan, 66, to perform community service\u00a0for four hours a day during the two-month period.<\/p>\n

The order will take effect after\u00a0the Movement Control Order (MCO) is lifted.<\/p>\n

The court also imposed\u00a0a RM2,000\u00a0fine\u00a0in default eight\u00a0months\u2019\u00a0jail on\u00a0Misri\u2019s son-in-law\u00a0A.D Safian Mohd Dimyati, 37, a labourer, for committing the same offence.<\/p>\n

Roszianayati, before handing down the sentences said she viewed\u00a0seriously\u00a0such\u00a0offence\u00a0due to\u00a0public interest.<\/p>\n

The duo pleaded guilty to breaching the observation and surveillance of COVID-19 infection contacts under Section 15 (1) of the\u00a0Prevention and Control of\u00a0Infectious Diseases Act 1988, by not being at a house in Kamping Bukit Kapar here for 14 days from April 8 without permission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They committed the offence at 6.20 pm on April 9, under Section 22 (b) of the\u00a0Prevention and Control of\u00a0Infectious Diseases Act 1988, punishable under Section 24 of the same law which\u00a0provides for\u00a0a\u00a0maximum jail term\u00a0of two years\u00a0or a fine or both, for the first offence.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor\u00a0Ahmad Faiz Abd Raoff while the accused were represented by lawyer\u00a0Nicholas Cheoh.<\/p>\n
