{"id":3687,"date":"2020-04-29T16:20:56","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T08:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3687"},"modified":"2020-04-29T16:20:56","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T08:20:56","slug":"mco-two-people-allowed-in-one-car-to-buy-food-and-seek-healthcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3687","title":{"rendered":"MCO: Two people allowed in one car; to buy food and seek healthcare"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>PUTRAJAYA, April 29 &#8211; The government has given some leeway to the standard operating procedure of\u00a0 phase four of the Movement Control Order (MCO) by allowing two people to travel in one vehicle, beginning today.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they must be people from one family living in the same house and the movement is to buy food and daily essential items.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within\u00a0Infected Local Areas) (No. 4) Regulations\u00a02020 has been gazetted and enforced from April 29, 2020 until May 12, 2020,\u201d he said in a press conference on the MCO here today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Previously, only the household head was allowed to go out to buy food and daily essential items.<\/p>\n<p>Permission for the movement is now for the purpose of buying daily essentials or to seek\u00a0healthcare or medical services outside a 10-kilometre radius if the items or services are not available within 10 km of the individual\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on\u00a0allegations made by a lawyer that the MCO was not gazetted, Ismail Sabri said the government had gazetted all phases of the MCO from the beginning until now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>\u201cIf it is not gazetted, the police cannot take any action. The government has gazetted each (phase of the) MCO before it is enforced,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ismail Sabri said several more leeways\u00a0made to the current MCO will be announced soon.<\/p>\n<p>He added that police arrested 643 people for violating the MCO yesterday, bringing the cumulative number of arrests to 21,749 people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>A total of\u00a0838 Malaysians returned to the country yesterday and placed under mandatory quarantine while 653 students from the northern zone will be sent home to within the same zone in 44 buses beginning this afternoon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<h5><strong>Law gazetted effective today to May 12<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>According to the\u00a0latest federal gazette under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within\u00a0Infected Local Areas) (No. 4) Regulations\u00a02020 published in\u00a0the Attorney General\u2019s Chambers website yesterday,\u00a0the conditions for movement in seeking healthcare or medical services also allow\u00a0the person to be accompanied by any other person deemed to be reasonably necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The gazette\u00a0signed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba\u00a0stated that the Regulation\u00a0is effective for the period from\u00a0April 29 until May 12.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>The list of essential services in the updated Regulations remain\u00a0the same at 15 items.<\/p>\n<p>A restriction on movement within 10km radius for daily necessities such as food, medicine and dietary \u00a0supplements as well as to seek healthcare and medical service\u00a0still remains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>-BERNAMA<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PUTRAJAYA, April 29 &#8211;
