{"id":3583,"date":"2020-04-25T09:13:33","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T01:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3583"},"modified":"2020-04-25T09:13:33","modified_gmt":"2020-04-25T01:13:33","slug":"public-compliance-to-mco-phase-four-required-despite-relaxed-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3583","title":{"rendered":"Public compliance to MCO phase four required despite relaxed regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR, \u00a0April 25 \u00a0\u2013 Although the government has relaxed\u00a0some of the regulations on the Movement Control Order (MCO) under phase four of its enforcement, the people are still expected to continue complying\u00a0with every stipulated rule to achieve the goal of breaking the chain of the COVID-19 infection.<\/p>\n<p>The action by the government in enforcing MCO and the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) have clearly given positive impact in\u00a0preventing the spread of the deadly pandemic in the country, especially during the third phase.<\/p>\n<p>This can be seen through the significant decline in COVID-19 positive cases in the country, thus giving the people the confidence that the country\u2019s recovery from the outbreak has been encouraging with the enforcement of MCO since March 18.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Although many people want the MCO to end, the government&#8217;s decision to extend it for another two weeks to the\u00a0fourth phase starting April 29\u00a0is for the public\u2019s safety and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>The government is also aware of the\u00a0people&#8217;s concerns, especially in allowing university students, who are at their respective campuses\u00a0to return home, and will make\u00a0it a requirement for those involved to\u00a0comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP).<\/p>\n<p>The government is also considering allowing a single trip journey\u00a0 for those who were stranded in their hometowns or other places since\u00a0enforcement of the first phase of MCO to return home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Towards\u00a0 this end, the government is collecting data and studying the best way\u00a0to facilitate their journey, including requiring them to register online with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) application or make an appointment with the nearest police station for the purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ramadan is celebrated differently this year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, but in no way does it prevent Muslims from fulfilling the third\u00a0pillar\u00a0of Islam in a\u00a0new normal situation.<\/p>\n<p>Like on a normal day during MCO, \u00a0the regulations remain the same during the fasting month and the order for the people to stay at home stays to ensure the chain of the COVID-19 infection is completely broken.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Meanwhile, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in welcoming the government&#8217;s decision in extending the MCO,\u00a0said it was an appropriate step in to curb infection of the deadly virus in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said the first and second phase of MCO had\u00a0successfully flattened the pandemic curve and the third phase was a recovery process.<\/p>\n<p>It is hoped the momentum\u00a0will continue to keep the cases under control, he added.<\/p>\n<p>He kept reminding the public that the best \u201cvaccine\u201d against COVID-19 is to train oneself to practice the new normal\u00a0of social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>The people should also maintain a high level of hygiene, especially by washing their hands often and stay at home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
