{"id":3580,"date":"2020-04-24T22:05:17","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T14:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3580"},"modified":"2020-04-25T07:07:56","modified_gmt":"2020-04-24T23:07:56","slug":"ngos-corporate-companies-contribute-ppe-food-to-frontliners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3580","title":{"rendered":"NGOs, corporate companies contribute PPE, food to frontliners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 &#8211; Various entities comprising non-governmental organisations\u00a0and corporate companies are coming forward to contribute in\u00a0fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by donating among others, personal protection equipment (PPE) as well as food to\u00a0frontliners.<\/p>\n<p>Ai Xin Malaysia (Persatuan Kebajikan Kasih Sayang)\u00a0donated\u00a0RM1 million worth of healthcare items to\u00a0Health Ministry (MOH) frontliners in a handover ceremony to its\u00a0minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba\u00a0in Putrajaya today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We realised that these items are highly needed and important to frontliners who work tirelessly every day to\u00a0contain the\u00a0COVID-19 outbreak and\u00a0to protect us all from the infection,&#8221; said Ai Xin\u00a0chairman Datin Fam Yuen Nee said in a statement.<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>The items were in the form of\u00a0PPE such\u00a0face masks, face protectors, eye and hair protection equipment, gloves, N95 face masks, socks, KM95 face masks, hand sanitizers as well as\u00a0thermometers.<\/p>\n<p>The NGO also contributed\u00a0RM300,000 worth of personal care items to\u00a0police personnel in Johor quarantine centres.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, solid waste concession company SWM Environment Sdn Bhd contributed\u00a0PPE such as gloves and face masks to 48 solid waste collection contractors in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<div class=\"mx-auto mb-4\">\n<div id=\"jssor_232235213137\" data-jssor-slider=\"1\">\n<div data-scale-ratio=\"1\">\n<div data-u=\"slides\">\n<div>Its chief executive officer Ho De Leong in a statement today said the contribution is for\u00a0the safety and protection of 742 workers from\u00a0COVID-19.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ho also asked the public to take care of cleanliness and dispose solid waste in properly tied plastic bags, before putting them inside the garbage bin provided.<\/p>\n<p>Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM) also contributed 3,500 sets of PPE including gowns as well as head and boot covers to medical frontliners at Bentong and Temerloh, as well as hospitals and government clinics in Pahang which are facing shortage of PPE.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>&#8220;The problem\u00a0prompted GENM to purchase non-woven materials and work with Bentong Prison to cut and sew the PPE. Some of the pre-cut materials from Bentong Prison were also distributed to several local organisations which assisted in sewing the PPE,&#8221; it said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The ready-made PPE were handed over to Bentong District Health Office to be distributed to the frontliners and in appreciation of\u00a0Bentong Prison for its\u00a0assistance in making the PPE, GENM presented the inmates\u00a0with food hampers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, The Chicken Rice Shop Restaurants Sdn Bhd (TCRS) donated food to various hospitals including Ipoh Hospital, Perak; Seberang Jaya Hospital, Penang; Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Seremban; Sungai Petani Hospital, Kedah; Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, Kelantan; Segamat Hospital, Johor; Miri Hospital, Sarawak; Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital, Pahang; Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital\u00a0and Klang Hospital, Selangor.<\/p>\n<p>TCRS Marketing head June Song in a statement said the contribution was in\u00a0appreciation of the tireless efforts and courage shown by the frontliners who are selflessly serving to save\u00a0the people from\u00a0COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The company also contributed food items to Elshaddai Centre Berhad in\u00a0Klang,\u00a0an organisation which\u00a0supports the displaced and marginalised members\u00a0of community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
