KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 —\u00a0Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has expressed sadness over the death of former Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) newsreader Farit Ismeth Emir today.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was\u00a0sad to hear of the passing of legendary @RTM_Malaysia newscaster,\u00a0‘golden voice’ Farit Ismeth Emir or \u2018Pak Ngah\u2019 today.<\/p>\n

\u201cMay Allah place him\u00a0with the believers & give strength to his family. Al-Fatihah,\u201d he said in a note posted on\u00a0his Twitter and Facebook accounts.<\/p>\n

The late Farit, affectionately known as \u2018Pak Ngah\u2019 by\u00a0family and friends was a popular RTM news reader in the 1980s and 1990s.<\/p>\n

He died at the Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya at 11 am today due to cancer, leaving behind seven children.<\/p>\n

His remains were laid to rest\u00a0at the Taman Medan Islamic Cemetery in\u00a0PJS 4, Petaling Jaya, after Zohor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
