{"id":3164,"date":"2020-04-14T15:35:05","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T07:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3164"},"modified":"2020-04-14T15:35:37","modified_gmt":"2020-04-14T07:35:37","slug":"mosques-provide-aid-to-non-muslims-as-taught-by-the-prophet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/?p=3164","title":{"rendered":"Mosques and surau provide aid to non-Muslims; as taught by the Prophet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>KLANG VALLEY, April 14\u00a0&#8212; Donations given by mosques and surau here are for anyone affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, including non-Muslims.<\/p>\n<p>Director of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious\u00a0Department\u00a0(JAWI)\u00a0Mohd Ajib Ismail said the aid does not use funds from the department or government but is instead from mosque collections and contributions from strategic partners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bernama.com\/en\/general\/news.php?id=1831726\">BERNAMA<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to send out the message that although the mosques are\u00a0closed, it does not mean they are\u00a0not functioning. During the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, the mosques continue to help people whose supplies have been cut off.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-12 mt-4 px-sm-0 px-md-5 px-lg-15 text-dark text-justify\">\n<div class=\"mx-auto mb-4\">\n<div id=\"jssor_1319145468136\" data-jssor-slider=\"1\">\n<div data-scale-ratio=\"1\">\n<div data-u=\"slides\">\n<p>\u201cThis includes non-Muslims, like\u00a0the Prophet Muhammad taught us, the aid is given to anyone,\u201d he told reporters after presenting donations to non-Muslims at the\u00a0Ar-Rahimah Mosque in Kampung Pandan today.<\/p>\n<p>At the event, 58 non-Muslim persons from the area around the Ar-Rahimah Mosque received donations comprising essential foods including rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour and condensed milk.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, mosques and surau in the Federal Territory have\u00a0donated RM1.2 million to 19,523 people since the MCO was imposed on March 18.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, one recipient,Yin Chung, 56 said his income as a Grab driver was affected after the MCO began since he could no longer drive as he did not want to be at risk of getting an infection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have only some savings and have to spend carefully. We don\u2019t want to let them down.
