KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — The government has decided to enforce the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at the Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion buildings in Jalan Masjid India\u00a0here, effective today.<\/p>\n

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakon said the decision to\u00a0execute the fourth directive of the EMCO was made\u00a0upon the advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH) after 15 positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded at the two buildings.<\/p>\n

He said the EMCO\u00a0involving around 6,000 residents in 365 residential and commercial units in the building, takes effect from today until all residents are screened.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWith the execution and throughout the duration of the EMCO, all residents are prohibited from exiting the area;\u00a0all non-residents and visitors are prohibited from entering the area; and, all entry and exit points will be sealed.<\/p>\n

All residents to undergo COVID19 test<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u201cAll residents will also be required to undergo COVID-19 screening and a medical base will be set up in the EMCO area,\u201d he told a press conference after chairing the meeting of the Special Ministerial Committee on the MCO here today.<\/p>\n

Ismail Sabri also called on the residents to remain calm and to give their full cooperation to the MOH officers and to comply with the authorities\u2019 instructions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

To ensure the compliance of the EMCO, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, Civil Defence Force, the Kuala Lumpur City Council and RELA will administer the area, he said.<\/p>\n

The security personnel administering the EMCO have installed barricades around the area, including barbed wire fences.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the smooth execution of the enhanced MCO, all residents are advised to remain calm and give their full cooperation to Health Ministry officers and to comply with instructions.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents that require assistance or have any enquiries can call the designated DBKL MCO operation centre hotline at 03-4026 7222 or 016-296 2982,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

3 prior locations under EMCO<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The EMCO had earlier been enforced at\u00a0three other locations, namely Simpang Renggam in\u00a0Kluang, Johor; Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat, Selangor; and Menara City One in\u00a0Jalan Munshi Abdullah in the capital.<\/p>\n

More than 500 cases have been recorded in the 3 locations combined.<\/p>\n
