especially for Perak<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Calling it a timely reminder, Sabrina echoed the ruler&#8217;s views on the conflict between the importance of forests in containing climate change, forests as a sources of timber that can be sold for profit, and\u00a0that more must be done to stop unethical logging that goes unchecked due to greed and corruption.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As an environmental NGO, PEKA Malaysia has been fighting, <a href=\"https:\/\/newmalaysiatimes.com\/2019\/12\/06\/forestry-act-amendments-need-proper-enforcement\/\">advising<\/a>, and warning the federal and state governments regarding this issue but sadly, our efforts have fallen on deaf ears.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is also important to note that the diverse biodiversity which, makes up the forest requires equal protection.&#8221; policies regarding logging, mining and other economic activities that destroy the natural environment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead of\u00a0exploiting and depleting its natural resources, the state must change and focus on environmental conservation and rehabilitation which too is capable of contributing to the economy as exemplified by nations like Buthan, Costa Rica and even New Zealand,&#8221;
