He said this to Free Malaysia Today, according to its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/category\/nation\/2018\/08\/02\/reveal-details-of-other-foreign-worker-recruitment-service-providers-govt-told\/\">article on 2 august 2018.<\/a>\u00a0Home Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is still recovering from a surgery.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bestinet Sdn Bhd, the IT company embroiled in the recent foreign workers scandal had been on the defense since it was alleged to have monopoly over the foreign workers recruitment in Nepal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At a Press Conference held on 31 July 2018, Bestinet\u2019s CEO Ismail Mohd Noor denied all allegations that they exploit or monopolize the foreign workers industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are not involved in the recruitment activities in the labor source countries. These companies aside from Bestinet are mainly:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Immigration Security Clearance (ISC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Being operated by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S5 Systems Sdn Bhd, a company controlled by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dato\u2019 Sri Johann Young and Tan Sri Al Amin Abdul Majid, a former Perak Umno Youth chief, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theedgemarkets.com\/article\/keen-interest-umno-supreme-council-meeting\"><b>Al Amin is a close confidant of former Prime Minister Najib<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the time the latter was Umno Youth chief in the late 1980s. He dropped out of active politics to focus on business and sports. Tan Sri Al Amin was also Chairman of SME Corp until very recently, rumoured to have been part of the political appointees clearout by the new Pakatan Harapan government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>One Stop Centre (OSC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; OSC are operated by few companies like Bukti Megah Sdn Bhd, and International Marketing and Net Resources (IMAN). We however believe that these are medical centres approved by FOMEMA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>PLKS or Pas Lawatan Kerja Sementara<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; a Foreign Worker Permit Renewal is believed to be handled by more than one company. One of them is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myeg.com.my\/faq#plks\"><b>MYEG<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is reported by the Department of Immigration that MYEG handled 1.3 million applications in 2015, 1.5 million applications in 2016 and 1 million in 2017 for such work permit renewals. The company landed a RM553 million contract from Immigration in 2017 as reported by NST\u2019s article <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nst.com.my\/news\/2017\/03\/216932\/myeg-services-gets-rm55385m-project-online-renewal-temporary-employment-passes\"><b>MyEG Services gets RM553.85m project for online renewal of temporary employment passes<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MYEG\u2019s rise to greatness were backed by government contracts and close connections to the previous Barisan National government. It\u2019s Managing Director Wong Thean Soon and Executive Director, former UMNO politician, Raja Munir Shah Raja Mustapha, were listed as one of top 25 richest Malaysians in 2017 by an<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/business\/business-news\/2017\/02\/04\/top-40-richest-in-malaysia-21-25\/\"><b>article from The Star<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forbes listed Wong Thean Soon as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/wong-thean-soon\/?list=malaysia-billionaires#733b604331da\"><b>#29 Richest Malaysian<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and MYEG\u2019s Chairperson, Dato\u2019 Dr Norraesah Mohamad at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/profile\/norraesah-mohamad\/?list=malaysia-billionaires#186b0c256e9e\"><b>#49 on the Top 50 list<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Dato\u2019 Norraesah Mohamad was a Supreme Council Member of UMNO between 2000-2003 and was made a Senator in 2005. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Workers iKad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; NMT believe that the production of the iKad are outsourced to a third party. An article from <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theedgemarkets.com\/article\/datasonic-proposes-build-medical-database\"><b>The Edge Markets<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2014 confirmed that Datasonic Group Berhad was producing the iKad for the Department of Immigration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NMT have not been able to confirm if they are still producing the iKad for Immigration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another process involved is PATI (Pendatang Asing Tanpa Izin) Undocumented workers Rehiring Program which are operated by at least 3 vendors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Department of Immigration had previously revealed that PATI Rehiring Programs are operated by few companies;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bukti Megah Sdn Bhd, International Marketing and Net Resources (IMAN) and MYEG. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, their contracts have been terminated in June 2018, as reported by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/business\/business-news\/2018\/06\/02\/myeg-contract-to-be-terminated-by-endjune\/\"><b>The Star<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a move by the new Pakatan Harapan government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In another development, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/nation\/2018\/08\/04\/for-the-record\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Star has apologised for inaccuracies<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of reports about Bestinet in its article, \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/nation\/2018\/08\/01\/bestinet-fails-to-reverse-nepals-worker-ban\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bestinet fails to reverse Nepal\u2019s worker ban<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d published on Aug 1. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Star wrote \u201cA meeting between Bestinet Sdn Bhd and Nepal government officials to reverse a decision to bar its workers from coming to Malaysia has failed to yield any result.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The article drew the Nepali Embassy to issue <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/my.nepalembassy.gov.np\/serious-attention-of-the-embassy-to-a-news-of-the-star-online-titled-bestinet-fails-to-reverse-nepals-worker-ban\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>a statement<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> denying any meeting took place. Bestinet also issued a press statement denying to have said that they met with Nepali officials.
