KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) — The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will refer the investigation paper on the death of student Zara Qairina Mahathir to the Attorney-General\u2019s Chambers (AGC) tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its director Datuk M Kumar said this was to obtain advice on further investigative actions to be carried out by the Bukit Aman CID special task force handling the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said a total of 195 witnesses, including students, teachers, medical officers, wardens, security guards and parents, had so far given their statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe police investigation focuses on two key elements, namely the inquest and other criminal conduct aspects, including bullying and the spread of fake news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe public is urged not to speculate or stir up sentiments that could cause disharmony,\u201d he said in a statement today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kumar assured that the investigation was carried out in a comprehensive and transparent manner without protecting any party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zara Qairina was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17 after being admitted a day earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Form One was found unconscious in a drain near the dormitory of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar at 4 am on July 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
