KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident involving the son of former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the investigation covers all possibilities and reminded the public not to speculate until official information is released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI believe the police will investigate to confirm what really happened, and it\u2019s too early for me to comment. We leave it to them to conduct a full investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don’t think someone like Rafizi will be cowed into silence by this as he has faced court cases before and is used to pressure. The more he\u2019s pressured, the more he fights back,\u201d Fahmi told reporters after officiating the Kampung Kerinchi landmark at the KL Gateway intersection today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was responding to a question on whether the incident at a Putrajaya shopping mall was politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fahmi said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had informed the PKR leadership and the Cabinet that follow-up measures, including improved security arrangements, would be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs of yesterday, there was an update on YB Rafizi\u2019s son\u2019s condition, but I have yet to receive the latest information this morning. What\u2019s certain is that the Home Minister has assured enhanced safety for Rafizi and his family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He strongly condemned the attack and hoped the perpetrators would be swiftly arrested and brought to court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the incident is believed to have occurred at about 2 pm in a passenger pick-up\/drop-off area when the victim was with his mother and driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
