KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) — The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has launched a 10-day Tax Compliance Operation, codenamed Ops Titan, from today to strengthen enforcement against tax non-compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According IRB statement today, Ops Titan was launched following the emergence of certain parties using aggressive tax planning to evade taxes in terms of transactions between related groups of companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis manipulative approach undermines the foundation of fairness in the taxation system, and this issue must be addressed immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA total of 313 officers have been mobilised to audit 103 companies across various industries to ensure the success of this operation,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the same statement, IRB chief executive officer Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin stressed that this enforcement is crucial to strengthen the integrity and fairness in the country\u2019s tax system, while ensuring continued tax compliance for the prosperity and well-being of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPublic confidence will grow when there is positive interaction between the IRB and taxpayers, which motivates IRB officers to carry out their duties with dedication and professionalism,\u201d he also said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
