NAIROBI, Aug 8 (Bernama-Anadolu) — A medical evacuation plane crashed near Nairobi on Thursday, killing six people — four on board and two on the ground, Kenyan authorities confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Anadolu Ajansi (AA), the AMREF Flying Doctors aircraft went down in Kiambu County, about 20 kilometres northeast of the capital, striking a residential building during the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kiambu County Commissioner Henry Wafula said the victims on board were the pilot, two nurses and a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two residents in the affected building were also killed, Wafula told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kiambu County Police Commander Maurice Odanga confirmed the fatalities and said investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Footage widely shared on social media showed thick black smoke rising from the crash site as crowds gathered. First responders were seen attempting rescues amid flames, debris and dust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate incident on the same day, eight people were killed in Naivasha when a train collided with a Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) staff bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The crash occurred near the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, about 90 kilometres northwest of Nairobi, after the bus attempted to cross the tracks without checking for oncoming trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naivasha OCPD Antony Keter said the victims were believed to be KPC employees returning home from work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
