PUCHONG, Sept 6\u00a0–\u00a0An African man,\u00a0suspected\u00a0to be a\u00a0member of a gang wanted\u00a0by the police, was shot dead\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0house\u00a0in Puchong Jaya, Selangor, last night.
Bukit\u00a0Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID)\u00a0chief\u00a0Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the incident\u00a0happened\u00a0at\u00a010.50pm\u00a0when\u00a0the\u00a0police raided\u00a0a unit at the 9th floor in\u00a0Menara KLH to arrest the suspect, but the latter opened fire.\u00a0“During\u00a0the\u00a0search,\u00a0the suspect was alone and refused to cooperate,\u00a0shooting\u00a0the police\u00a0twice,\u00a0forcing the police to return\u00a0fire,”\u00a0he said\u00a0during an interview there.
He\u00a0added that\u00a0while searching\u00a0the\u00a0house, the\u00a0police found two\u00a0knives,\u00a0a fake\u00a0license\u00a0and a bag\u00a0with fake\u00a0money, the exact amount of which\u00a0is\u00a0yet to be\u00a0ascertained. The\u00a0suspect also\u00a0had\u00a0a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)\u00a0card\u00a0which\u00a0was\u00a0believed to be\u00a0fake.
“The suspect’s\u00a0age,\u00a0country\u00a0of origin and other related documents are still being\u00a0investigated,”\u00a0he said.\u00a0According\u00a0to Mohd Shuhaily, the suspect\u00a0is\u00a0part of an African\u00a0extortion group,\u00a0one of\u00a0whom was\u00a0shot dead by\u00a0a\u00a0police\u00a0officer\u00a0in a shootout on\u00a0August 20.\u00a0Jalan PJS 9\/1. Three other members of the\u00a0group\u00a0were arrested on\u00a0August\u00a025.\u00a0Police\u00a0are now\u00a0working hard\u00a0to\u00a0find\u00a0the remaining members of the\u00a0group.
On August\u00a020, an African man\u00a0was shot dead by the police in\u00a0a shootout at Jalan PJS 9\/1, Subang Jaya, Selangor. The\u00a0person is\u00a0believed to be a member of\u00a0a group of robbers who have\u00a0been\u00a0robbing people\u00a0since 2018.
