KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4\u00a0–\u00a0The Social Security\u00a0Organization\u00a0(Socso) has been ordered to\u00a0change\u00a0its operating procedures\u00a0(SOPs)\u00a0for\u00a0accounting,\u00a0including for permanent disability\u00a0benefits (HUK), according to the Human Resource Minister said Steven Sim Chee Keong.
The\u00a0directive, he said,\u00a0follows allegations of false allegations by\u00a0the cartel involving three\u00a0doctors who\u00a0allegedly\u00a0worked at\u00a0hospitals in Penang\u00a0in recent\u00a0years.\u00a0He\u00a0said all\u00a0Socso benefit\u00a0claims\u00a0related to\u00a0the\u00a0hospital have\u00a0been temporarily suspended.
“Socso, thanks to\u00a0an internal\u00a0investigation this year\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0Anti-Fraud, Ethics and Integrity\u00a0Unit (AFEI), discovered\u00a0the existence of the cartel.\u00a0“Socso\u00a0has worked with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)\u00a0to carry\u00a0out\u00a0an\u00a0anti-cartel operation,\u00a0called\u00a0Ops Tunjang since July\u00a02,”\u00a0he\u00a0said during\u00a0a special\u00a0press\u00a0conference\u00a0today in Kuala Lumpur.
Sim\u00a0said 32\u00a0people were\u00a0arrested\u00a0yesterday\u00a0on suspicion of being involved in\u00a0a fraud cartel, who lost more than\u00a0RM2 million.\u00a0He\u00a0said\u00a0that this work\u00a0will continue in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH)\u00a0in all countries\u00a0to identify the existence of cartel in other hospitals.
“The\u00a0Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and Socso\u00a0are\u00a0not\u00a0compromising\u00a0on this\u00a0issue, they\u00a0will\u00a0use all their strength to\u00a0fight\u00a0these\u00a0cartel\u00a0activities. “The share\u00a0of social\u00a0security\u00a0benefits should be\u00a0transferred\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0contributors and their eligible and deserving\u00a0relatives,”\u00a0he said.
Media said\u00a0two\u00a0doctors from\u00a0a\u00a0public\u00a0hospital and a specialist\u00a0from\u00a0a private hospital in Penang were among the 32\u00a0people\u00a0who were remanded\u00a0in custody\u00a0for two days starting today to assist in the investigation into\u00a0Socso’s\u00a0false\u00a0allegations\u00a0in\u00a0– said\u00a0the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
