KUALA LUMPUR, April 12<\/strong> — The Ministry of International Trade and Industry has\u00a0been rebranded and will now be known as the\u00a0Ministry of Investment,\u00a0Trade and Industry (MITI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement today, the ministry said that the rebranding is in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim\u2019s decision during the Cabinet meeting on April 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is in keeping with\u00a0MITI\u2019s function as the leader in\u00a0driving and encouraging\u00a0inflows of foreign investments, enhancing\u00a0local investments, strengthening international trade and empowering sustainable industrial development,” the ministry\u00a0said.<\/p>\n\n\n

The decision was also in line with the government\u2019s aspiration to boost investment promotion activities as outlined by the National Investment Aspiration for the continuation of the national economic redevelopment in accordance with the MADANI Government framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMITI remains committed to attracting new quality and high-impact investments, expanding the international trade network and strengthening the existing industrial sector as the main contributor to the economic development for the well-being of the people and the business sector, especially the small and medium enterprises,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
